Fireflies Festival Mumbai - 2022
Monsoon is almost here and so are the Fireflies, You get to see fireflies in many locations in India during the spring season, pre-monsoon. Majorly Fireflies can be spotted in parts of Maharashtra from May-End to Mid-June.
What are fireflies?
Fireflies are soft bodied beetles, they emit light from their body inorder to attract other fireflies for mating. Fireflies are also known as glowworms, lightning bugs, Jugnu/ Jugnoo, and kazwa locally. These fireflies are mostly found in temperate and tropical climate. All the Fireflies in larvae stage are known to produce light but all fireflies cannot produce light once they grow from the larvae. Most of the majorly found firefly species in India are nocturnal. The glowy light that is emitted from the bodies of these fireflies is the result of chemical reaction in their bodies.

1. Location - Rajmachi Fireflies Festival
Rajmachi is one of the best locations to spot these tiny twinkling bundles of light called Fireflies, also known as 'Jugnoo" or "kazwa". The bioluminescence Phenomenon is shown by these fireflies and is shared by many other organisms, mostly sea-living or marine organisms. It is nature's way of amusing everyone with its own light show.

2. Location - Prabalmachi Fireflies Festival
Prabalmachi is one of the nearest locations from Navi Mumbai and Mumbai for watching fireflies. The Prabalmachi camping location is the topmost overcrowded and cheapest location when it comes to fireflies season.

3. Location - Igatpuri Fireflies Festival
Igatpuri Fireflies Camping location has multiple activities available at the campsite. The activities include Kayaking, Lake rafting, Archery, Boating, Spin-tube and swimming in the lake. If you are looking for an adventurous campsite for witnessing fireflies, this has to be your best choice.

4. Location - Bhandardhara Fireflies Festival
Bhandardhara is well known location in Maharashtra for camping.
